Two young Vietnamese people save two Japanese children.

(VOVWORLD) – Two young Vietnamese people, for having rescued two Japanese children at Gotenba Beach in Mie Prefecture, were praised and admired by many for their dedication to saving lives without regard for their own danger.

On the afternoon of the 11th, prior to this incident, at Gotenba Beach in Mie Prefecture, two Japanese children were swept about 100 meters offshore by sudden strong winds and high waves, and afterward drifted along the coast for approximately 700 meters.

The young Vietnamese men, Mr. Pham Quoc Dat and Mr. Ton Manh Tuan, who happened to be at the scene, immediately jumped into the sea and went to rescue them. About 30 minutes later, the two succeeded in safely bringing the children back to shore.

In recognition of this courageous act, the Mie Prefectural authorities decided to present both individuals with a letter of appreciation on August 28.

This action not only gave a deep impression to Japanese society but also helps to spread the wonderful image of Vietnamese youth, full of courage and kindness.
