The 2024 Dong Thap Lotus Festival in Vietnam Opens

(VOVWORLD) – On the night of the 16th, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Lotus Festival 2024, themed “The Radiant Colors of Lotus,” was held at the Confucian Temple Park in Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province in southern Vietnam.

The festival, running until the 19th, features around 30 activities. Highlights include an international symposium on lotus, workshops to enhance the value chain of lotus-related industries in Dong Thap Province, the announcement of the first lotus export to Japan, an international lotus exhibition, a cooking contest using lotus, a lotus-themed fashion contest, mural creation inspired by lotus, and an exhibition of southern paintings and ceramics themed on Dong Thap’s lotus.

Additionally, there are many engaging activities such as tours of lotus cultivation areas, a lotus carnival, unique music and dance performances, an exhibition of a Vietnamese map made of lotus, and a parade featuring 5,500 women from Dong Thap Province wearing Ao Dai adorned with lotus patterns and colors.

The festival aims to honor Vietnam’s lotus flowers, enhance their cultural and economic value, promote the development of lotus-related industries linked to tourism, boost the local image, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Dong Thap Province.
