Vietnamese Export-oriented Companies Strengthen Compliance with the EU Green Deal

(VOVWORLD) – On the morning of the 16th in Hanoi, a symposium titled “The European Green Deal and Its Impact on Vietnam’s Exports” was held under the auspices of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

The European Green Deal provides a roadmap that promotes the efficient use of resources through a transition to a clean and circular economy. It includes initiatives to combat climate change, reverse biodiversity loss, and reduce pollution.
In particular, it covers all economic sectors such as transportation, energy, agriculture, and construction, as well as industries like steel, cement, textiles, and chemicals—thereby influencing export products.

Recently, the European Union (EU) has banned the import of products associated with deforestation, required the declaration and payment of carbon emission taxes on imported steel, and mandated the submission of information related to reducing antibiotic residues.

At the symposium, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, Director of the WTO and Integration Center under the VCCI, stated:

“The European Green Deal is not merely a plan containing fixed green standards or a detailed roadmap for the EU’s green transition. Rather, it encompasses numerous policies and strong actions being actively implemented by the EU. Vietnamese industries need to closely monitor EU actions within the framework of the European Green Deal that may affect their exports to the EU market and take appropriate measures in response.”

According to experts, Vietnamese export manufacturers need to adopt appropriate solutions to meet the green standards set by the European Green Deal and move toward sustainable development.
