(VOVWORLD) – On August 15, the amended Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam came into effect.
Under the new law, the validity of electronic visas (e-visas) issued to foreigners has been extended from 30 days to 90 days, and multiple entries are now permitted.
In addition, for citizens of countries unilaterally exempted from visa requirements by Vietnam, the visa-free stay period has been extended from 15 days to 45 days.
This legal amendment aims to promote tourism and boost economic growth by relaxing visa regulations to attract more foreign visitors.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and tourism experts, the easing of visa policies is expected to lead to a sharp increase in foreign tourist arrivals and provide a significant boost to Vietnam’s tourism industry.
Pham Anh Vu, Public Relations Manager of Vietnam Tourism Communications Corporation, commented that the new visa policy creates optimal conditions for travel agencies to attract international tourists. He stated:
“From the perspective of travel companies, the new visa policy will have a positive impact on our activities. Extending the visa validity period will enhance Vietnam’s tourism competitiveness. This extension allows tourists to enjoy longer tours in Vietnam and easily combine them with trips to neighboring countries.”
In the first seven months of this year, Vietnam welcomed approximately 6.6 million international visitors, equivalent to 83% of the annual target.
With the relaxation of visa regulations, it is expected that the goal of 8 million foreign tourist arrivals will be achieved earlier than planned.
